| Instructions | Stool specimens should be placed in Cary-Blair based transport media immediately after collection (ETM or equivalent). Add enough stool to fill container to indicator line. Specimen Stability: Room Temperature: 72 hours, Refrigerated: 72 hours, Frozen: Unacceptable Unacceptable Specimens: Stool specimens must not be submitted in formalin or PVA preservative and should not contain barium or oily cathartics. Specimens outside of appropriate transport media for 4 or more hours are unacceptable. Stools received 72 hours after collection or specimens that have been frozen are unacceptable. Multiple specimens collected within 24 hours will not be tested. |
