Instructions Specimen Type: Sterile plastic container (CSF, synovial fluid), lavender-top (EDTA) tube OR yellow-top (ACD) tube
Specimen Storage: CSF and synovial fluid are STABLE at room temperature or refrigerated for up to seven days, frozen for up to 90 days. Whole blood is STABLE at room temperature or refrigerated for up to seven days; DO NOT Freeze Whole blood.
Specimen Collection: To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.

Clinical Use The diagnosis of Lyme Disease is most often made by clinical examination combined with evidence of tick bite or exposure in endemic areas. Amplification of Borrelia genomic DNA from blood, fluids or tissue can support the diagnosis.
