| Instructions | Specimen Type: Lavender-Top (EDTA) Tube, BD SST Tube, BD Vacutainer PPT Plasma Preparation Tube Specimen Storage: FROZEN Sample may be stored for 24 hours at room temperature. It is recommended that serum or plasma be refrigerated or frozen for shipment. Specimen Collection: Collect specimen in lavender-top (EDTA), gel-barrier (SST tube) or a PPT Plasma Preparation Tube. Whole blood specimens stored at room temperature should be centrifuged within 24 hours of collection. Transfer serum or plasma to a polypropylene screw-cap tube for shipment. Specimen Stability: Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated : 7 days; Frozen: 6 weeks (stability provided by manufacturer or literature reference.) Causes for Rejection: Specimen grossly hemolyzed; specimen received at room temperature. |
