| Clinical Use | Rapid turnaround time. Quantitates Epstein-Barr viral DNA down to 80 copies/mL (1.0 copies/mg DNA) to assist in distinguishing latent from acute infection (or reactivation). The virus is usually undetected in the majority of EBV IgG positive samples, but is readily detected in acute infections, usually becoming positive well before other diagnostic methods. |
