Cold Agglutinin Antibody
Hemagglutination 5098-9
SPECIMEN REQUIREMENTS
Specimen Specimen Volume (min) Specimen Type Specimen Container Transport Environment
Preferred 1 mL (0.5mL) Serum Clot Activator (SST or Red No-Gel) Refrigerated
Instructions Specimen: 1mL (0.5mL) Serum from Red-top tube or gel-barrier tube

Storage Instructions: Do not refrigerate prior to separation of serum from red cells. Store separated serum in refrigerator.
Cause for Rejection: Refrigeration of the specimen before separating serum from cells
GENERAL INFORMATION

Was: "Allow blood to clot for 30 mins at 37 degrees C. Serum must be kept at 37 degrees C until separated from cells. Transport warm if not centrifuged. Fasting specimen preferred."
Now: "Fasting specimen preferred.
Allow blood to clot for 30 mins at 37'C - Serum must be kept at 37'C until separated from cells.
Transport specimen Warm if not centrifuged.
Do Not Refrigerate or Freeze!"
7/10/25 removed Protein electrophoresis performed if cold agglutinin is positive. (84155; 84165; 80500).  32672-8 to 5098-9- JK
