Test Number: 3806575
Revision Date 03/26/2018
Test Name Methodology LOINC Code
Legionella pneumophila Antigen Urine
Enzyme Immunoassay 6447-7
Specimen Specimen Volume (min) Specimen Type Specimen Container Transport Environment
Preferred 3 mL (1) Urine, Random Sterile Screwtop Container Refrigerated
Instructions Collect a random urine in a sterile screw-top container with or without boric acid. If boric acid is used, the tube must be filled to the fill line. Urine should be maintained at 2-8°C prior to testing. Samples are stable at 2-8°C for up to seven days. If testing cannot be done within seven days, they should be frozen immediately and stored at ≤-20°C until tested.
Testing Schedule Daily
Expected TAT 1 Day
Clinical Use Test results are to be used as an aid in diagnosis of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 infection. A positive result indicates Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigens were detected; it does not rule out coinfection with other pathogens. A negative result does not preclude infection with Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 or other serogroups other than serogroup 1.
