Instructions Mark Collection Duration and Total Volume on specimen and requisition.
Unacceptable: Random urine, specimen containing preservatives.
Patient Prep: Patient must not be taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or aminoguanidine as these medications increase N-methylhistamine (NMH) levels.
Specimen Prep: Testing is not performed at ARUP, therefore separate specimens are required for multiple tests.
Stability: Ambient: 2 weeks; Refrigerated: 28 days; Frozen: 28 days.
